the price is right

it's been awhile since we've gone hiking. life and moods seem to get in the way of exercise, at least for me. today we ventured up to price lake with the dogs and hiked the 2.3 mile loop around. although both of us agreed it was definitely longer than advertised. the leaves are on the cusp of change and there was a nip in the air. i love the transition and weather this time of year. inspired by jen's fall post, i took a few shroom shots on our journey.

i honestly didn't see the slug on the smallest shroom until after i downloaded the photo. i guess he needed to get a little camera time.

here's aaron's find on our hike. a mushroom waterfall. and just to let you know, we are now living with a JYD. details tomorrow.

walkin to dfeet

Aaron's mother, Donna, passed away from ALS in 2000. Her strength, courage and faith throughout her illness served as an inspiration to all who knew her. We are participating in this event to honor Donna and hopefully to help raise awareness of this debilitating disease.

If you'd like to donate, walk or learn more about ALS click here.

50 inches

aaron's birthday present: a 50 inch plasma. here you can see him and the dogs enjoying it.

we have walls

more progress shots. we can finally get a gander of what it's gonna look like. amazing what a couple of walls will do. unfortunately there isn't any electricity on the tv room side of the basement. that should be fixed in the next few days if not today. the pictures are with a flash and somewhat blown out because of it but i think you can get the gist. hopefully we'll be done in the next two weeks. fingers crossed.

for the fashion minded

a couple of weeks ago, amanda pointed me to this website: polyvore.com. i really haven't had a chance to mess around with it. as it is quite time consuming once you get started. but i have created one make-shift set. behold.

then i got to thinking. i'm notorious for buying one item of clothing and not buying anything to go with. thus the bought item never gets worn. it would be awesome if i could post the item and build an outfit around it. unfortunately the first article of clothing i wanted to add isn't on the site and i can't add it manually. i really love this skirt and would love a little assistance in creating an outfit.

see what you can do with this:
and send me your creations!

in the basement

more progress shots. right now the sheet rock is in the process of going up. i guess i could have waited til it was completely done but it's been a little while since i posted pics.

it's amazing all the decisions you have to make when doing even a small construction project. i can't even imagine what it would be like if you were actually building a house from the ground up. outlets where? doors? carpet? fixtures? tiles? it's a bit overwhelming.

today, they're pouring the concrete to cover the plumbing and finishing the sheet rock.

take a bow

i've been on a bow-making rampage. most of which are custom requests for favorite sports teams. here are the results of my labor.

baltimore ravens

cowboys

and of course, st. louis cardinals.

halloween shebang

unfortunately, i don't remember what year this was. we had a little lag time where we didn't dress up and this falls within that 2002-2004 block. yes, that's "miss aaron" striking her best pose. although i think she went by another name that evening. roxie seems to come to mind.

we didn't get a photo together this year. my costumes always seem to pale in comparison to aaron's. he definitely goes above and beyond with a little help from me. i always have more fun dressing him then myself (see richard simmons in previous post). this particular year i was a "roller girl" scooting around on skates all evening. i do remember giving the shorts away to a co-worker for her 12 year-old daughter. she came back the next day and told me they fit her 6 year-old. yes, they were that tight!

i'm going to go ahead and post the rest of our halloween photos. can you tell i'm in dress-up sorta mood and contemplating whether or not to host a party this year because of it?

halloween 2005, spastic child in footed pjs and the asian boy george.

halloween 2006, devil woman and bat girl. this year my bachlorette party took place the weekend of halloween. everyone dressed up and we hit up the landing in st. louis. this is one of my favorite photos from the evening.

riding out the storm

after watching asu get spanked, 16 hours of driving, and sleeping in his rental car, aaron finally made it home. he was supposed to fly out of new orleans today, but of course that wasn't going to happen. he scrambled to find a mode of transportation to get out of louisiana. train, bus, car-his attempts were almost futile. he finally found a rental agency open on the holiday weekend that wasn't charging an arm and a leg for a car. ($1 a mile=outrageous!) he took off as soon as he could, and braced for evacuation traffic. he called while on the road and told me he planned on stopping in birmingham, alabama. i offered to book him a hotel online so it would be waiting for him when he arrived. imagine my surprise when every hotel along the route was booked. i told him he might have to actually pull off and check for himself. he said cars were pulled off along the road and he was sure people had decided to sleep in their cars and not hassle with looking for lodging. so he ended up in a hotel parking lot for the night. poor aaron. after atlanta, most of the traffic had thinned out and he made it home tired and ready for a shower. what was supposed to be a four day weekend ended up being one. again, poor aaron!
