edible decor

last year our good friends got us a whirley pop for christmas. it only took us a year to open and use it. and of course, the first thing i decide to do with the popcorn is a christmas craft project. our rotating tree was looking a little sparse when the lights weren't on so i decided to string a popcorn garland to jazz it up. it was pure torture for the dogs, they love popcorn. bosco literally sat underfoot the whole two hours it took me to string it. occasionally scoring a kernel or two.

behold. the finished product.

so far the tree is still standing. i was worried i'd come down to an annihilated tree this morning. we'll see if it makes it the rest of the holiday season. i'm not sure if the dogs realize what and where it is. let's hope they don't figure it out.

remember them?

yeah. they still do exist. although lacking the attention they probably deserve. fortunately for us the dogs and the boy have become instant pals. well, I guess pals is not quite the right word for it. marley barely acknowledges his existence and bosco has found a new salt lick. the boy, however, is thrilled about their presence. always following them around the room, picking up their toys and sticking them in his mouth, smiling/giggling when they do give him any attention. we'll see how long this idealistic situation will last. I think we might see some bumps as the boy becomes more mobile. which is gonna be any day now.

a little help from my friend

if you're wondering if the dogs are getting accustomed to having the wee one around, here's your answer.

shoot, dawg

i haven't done too much with the new camera. been a little preoccupied with life. i think the pups are getting wise to my picture taking. rarely, do i get them looking directly at the camera. it's like they know and intentionally shun the lens. with marley a little shake-shake of her toy will get her looking somewhat at me. and yes, the look is intense. bosco's a word man. rabbit, treat and walk gets me an inquisitive stare. i have to laugh, aaron and i are now spelling all of those words in his presence. and i'm pretty sure he's starting to pick that up too!

black and white bulldog

a few weeks ago one of our neighbors called.

"susan, we have a little black and white bulldog on our back porch."

i'm thinking, we don't have a bulldog so why are you calling me. i quickly do a lookaround and notice bosco is nowhere in sight. "hmmm. i think it may be bosco. i don't see him at the moment."

"well he's scratching at the door, should i let him in?"

"that would be great, i'll be over there shortly."

i walk over, knock on the door, and apologize for the inconvenience. i look up and see bosco just trotting around their loft like he owns the place. he hears me and comes running.

"don't you guys have an electric fence?"

"yes, but we haven't been putting their collars on since they know their boundaries. i guess bosco will have to start wearing his again."

i scoop bosco and we head back home. i put his collar back on and let him out again. he starts running for the high weeds and plows through them towards the neighbors house again. what the heck! i call him and he actually listens and comes back. he's really testing his limits and both of us can't figure out why he waits til the cold winter months to do so. he's usually a wimp when it comes to being outside when it's the slightest bit chilly.

well the other day he's down by the creek bed and this morning he's way past the end of our driveway. yeah, the battery is not working in his collar. also, when we were in jamaica, jerome installed a doggie door for bosco and marley. thought we'd give them some free reign but bosco's put the squash on that. i hope that battery comes soon.

hunka-hunka burnin boston

what marley looks forward to on our daily two mile walks. bosco's the same way but he's in and out, no lolli-gagging, he's all business. i honestly think she'd stay there all day if she could. i don't blame her. i'd do the same!

boston love

here's some of my recent work. my latest obsession is working with felt. all hand sewn. it's semi-fast and i get to use the kazillion beads i bought years ago to make bracelets. these are day of the dead pins and a nautical star i made for my swap. i'm quite happy with the end results. oh yeah!

bosco represent. this is the beginning of a little pouch/purse i'm gonna make. it was a great way to kill the 12 hour drive to boone earlier this month. i noticed there weren't too many boston crafts on the net so this might be my niche. right now i'm trying to stock pile my crafts so i can create an online shop to eventually sell my handiwork. i'm a little overwhelmed trying to learn new things and i want to dabble in everything. it's fun and i really enjoy making things from scratch. it's so fulfilling to know you had a few pieces of fabric and created a one-of-a-kind item.

tomorrow is graduation for the chiefs with a mega party at floyds afterwards. i'm looking forward to it. it'll probably be the last hoorah for all of us together. such a sad thought. i'm gonna miss everyone tremendously. boo. i'm sure i'll have pictures galore to share. be prepared for tongues, devil horns and sexy side poses. satch is notorious for those.

here's lily modeling an outfit i made last year using one of the outfits aaron's mom made for the boys. i added the hat.

in case you were wondering what our children will look like...lily should give you an accurate indication. she's the product of a half korean man and pale white woman. our doppelgangers! she's simply adorable!!

things that bother me... that show a little of the ocd i harbor. i posted this earlier today and it really bothers me that the photos are not aligned on the left. so i must insert filler copy to bulk up the post so my small photos are aligned. of course it won't matter much, cause it's all dependent on screen settings where the photos fall. at least it'll curb my anxiety.

tell me about your boston

so i posted to a "group" for the first time tonight. gay is me.

question:
what has your boston ate?

my reply:
we've got two bostons, bosco (7) and marley (2). bosco shreds any stuffed toy we give him, especially when there's a sqeaker inside. marley, on the other hand, could care less about dog toys, she goes after the big stuff. she's pulled my backpacks and purses off counters countless times. once she devoured a bag of gummi bears. another time she consumed a bottle of advil (which required an emergency trip to the vet and a very expensive bill). they both tag-teamed and got an entire pizza minus a slice off the kitchen counter. got the pantry door open and punctured and dragged a full bottle of crangrape juice through the kitchen and into the carpeted living room. red lipstick. chapstick. any plant part...dirt, leaves, branches. shoes, especially flip-flops. a whole box of dog biscuits. rope toys. underwear. hardcover books. cds. we've learned to puppy-proof the house on a daily basis, invested in locks for the pantry and we move everything a foot away from the edge of the counters. they still seem to find something.
