perfectly pretty in pink

this is actually proving to be more time-consuming than i thought. looking for the perfect item then trying to find the perfect corresponding pic, yeah it's taking me a lot longer than i expected. hence the lack of commentary.

one reason i'm doing this is to spark some inspiration. i've started crafting again. little things here and there. i was just asked if i'd like to consign some of my stuff at a local bookstore. i hardly have enough to keep my etsy store up and running let alone consign or have a booth at a craft fair. since the weather is starting to grow colder and our lives a little less hectic, i'm shooting to get back in gear. i need to set mini goals and a little sweat shop in my craft room. maybe then i'll get some stuff done.

daily morningness

one of my friends, janett, started up a website yesterday and asked me to participate. mornings lets you follow a group of photographers (amateur and pro) all around the world as they show you a little piece of their morning. the good, the bad and the ugly. this project is wholly inspired by the book, "A Year of Mornings, 3,191 miles apart" by Stephanie Congden Barnes and Maria Vettese.

i originally took this photo, the first thing i see when i open my eyes, but it was a little blah so i went with my old standby. lucky for me, marley was up for a photo session this morning. i'm not much of a morning person, so it'll be interesting to see how long i can go. if i can post one a week, i'll be happy!

do as the romans

i finally got the roman shade finished for the master bath. made completely from scratch. i installed all the hardware, including a stop pull and corded it all myself. yes, i am patting myself on the back. and - double bonus - it's fully functional. i did buy a pattern to make it, but in the end i didn't use it. the only thing i needed were measurements. which i'm sure i could have found somewhere on the web. the room is pretty close to done. i was thinking about taking the pattern on the shade and making some type of stencil with it to place around the room. not sure it'd be too much in the way of matchy-matchy. i'll ponder that a little while longer. i did buy a couple of shelves to install and plan on stocking them up with white pottery. i've been eyeing this vase. and these would also be a perfect addition. the possibilities are endless.

tonic living

i've put the master bath off long enough. after ripping down all the green wallpaper the room has been sitting in disarray for a few months now. today i ordered some "tonic" fabric which the rest of the room will be loosely based on. instead of wallpaper i've been thinking about using vinyl wall art similar to the image below.

i came across this in my search yesterday. completely awesome and completely out of my price range. it's about $1200 a panel and consists of seven panels. there's a few others i found at velocity that are more in my budget. hopefully it's easier to handle than wallpaper. i've learned that job should be handled by the professionals.

i'm OPEN

after months of preparation, i am FINALLY OPEN! i've listed a few items and will be listing more over the weekend. hopefully weather will cooperate so i can get more pics of every individual item. i forgot how long and tedious it is to list every single item. (taking and cropping photos, listing all the tags, etc.) luckily most items are similar so it wasn't too bad. being creative with descriptions....quite difficult and ending up on the cheesy side. enjoy. comments, criticisms, questions welcome. thanks for everyones support!!

by the end of the week, the shop will be up and running. how sweet is that!?! if you've seen something you like that i've created let me know. i'm happy to do custom orders. i probably should have announced that a long time ago.

orange you glad...

...this is over! ;)





what you see: my favorite thrift store find this year, what's stocked in our fridge weekly, my orange sweater collection, tulips at the cherry blossom festival and fire on our back deck. and so ends the exploration into the color wheel.

it's been fun and enlightening. we'll have to do it again soon. it's always fun to look at things from a different perspective and then try to capture it in a photo. thanks to everyone that played along. if you're ambitious, i'm thinking multi-color tomorrow. photos that are bombarded with hues!

seeing red

what your see: asian mask in my craft room, bookshelf in craft room, star lantern and my red pumas. it's pretty easy when you have a "red" room.

the color purple

what you see: another macro flower taken in canada and the mardi gras mask katie got me from new orleans this year. this color has been the most difficult to shoot. i was quite surprised on how little we have in the house. the only purple item of clothing i own is a tank top which i am currently sporting. it's not really photo-worthy.

what you see: us embarking on a disney ride, my vans that i haven't worn in forever, poppies in canada, wildflowers from our walk today, and a fraction of my thread collection.
